Crazy Ice!

We had a flash thaw a little while back that caused all the snow and ice we were bombarded with this year melt at incredible speed. We had so much water running into the ditches from the thaw that it was running across the roads and the driveways. And since I live out in a heavily forested area, our ditches are DEEP.

But after the flash thaw, we had a flash freeze which turned all the overflowing water turned to ice before it could run off. But within a couple of days, all the water beneath the ice ran off, leaving a two-inch-thick sheet of ice literally hanging in the air while being supported by the trees that the water rose up around. I took some cool pictures of this wierd phenomenon and I uploaded my favorites, entitled Ice Forest 1-3
